Information for Coaches
High quality coaches are critical to the success of the Football Football programme.
The most important requirement for the coaches is that they can relate to children and are friendly and personable. It won’t matter what football knowledge they have if they can’t relate to how a five year old thinks and get inside their head.
Enthusiasm is essential and will help create the right atmosphere for the sessions. Nothing will be too much trouble in making sure that the children have the most wonderful experience they can!
The children will have very mixed ability levels and coaches who have worked in school and community environments will have had experience of coaching the type of child we expect to get at sessions.
It is important that coaches can think on their feet and change the session when necessary e.g. a specific game is not working and appears too difficult for the group so understand that and change the game.
All coaches working within the programme will have achieved the FA Level 1 qualification although it will be desirable for coaches to also have reached FA Level 2 and / or attended a FA age appropriate course.
Each individual centre is responsible for recruiting the coaches for the programme.
